Some General Requirements of the PhD Energy Engineering (PhD EgyE) Program:

• Completion of coursework and dissertation:

  • A minimum of 48 units of formal graduate courses for students entering directly from a BS degree.
  • A minimum of 27 units of formal graduate courses for those entering with a Master’s degree in an allied field.
  • A minimum of 26 units of formal graduate courses for graduates of the MS Energy Engineering (MS EgyE) program of UP Diliman.
  • In all cases, a 12-unit PhD dissertation is required.

• Cumulative Weighted Average Grade (CWAG): Must maintain a CWAG of 1.75 or better.
• Candidacy Examination / Dissertation Proposal: Must successfully pass the candidacy examination, which serves as the formal dissertation proposal defense.
• Dissertation Defense: Must successfully defend the PhD dissertation.
• Publication Requirement: Must have at least one accepted peer-reviewed journal paper before graduation.
